The purpose of a prologue in any of the Gospels is to introduce the drama of Jesus and the key themes that will flow through the writer’s presentation. This is probably the most remarkable prologue ever written, and one could easily take an entire book to present in depth all that John says. Jesus is the Living Revealer (Word) of God and is God himself. In Jesus God has taken on human flesh (incarnation), and in him the Shekinah (God “dwelling” among his people)
